Be Your Own Super Hero - Stock Up On Sprouts!

Ok this is a hysterical video (mostly because they actually found adults willing to act like this):

Preparedness Heroes Episode 1

but I love their point.  Sprouts are easy to store, easy to grow, and pack in vitamins and minerals your body would need in a time of food scarcity.  Too many people are intimidated by sprouts.  All you need is a couple of simple supplies and you are good to go.  Amazon carries everything you need:

Mason Jar

Sprouting Lid

Sprouts

You can get those fancy sprouting trays but they are not necessary, simple supplies work just as well.  You can probably find most of those things at your local grocer as well.  Doesn't matter where you get them but you should have them in your storage, and practice using them now, you will be amazed how easy it is and how yummy they are!  Mung beans are my favorite to sprout.  I like to just eat them straight as a snack.

  1. Yeah, sprouts are one of my favorite things now. About the only things I haven't been able to sprout successfully is soy and chickpea.

    1. Do you have a newsletter you send out? I could not locate it and this is the only way to communicate with others. I think you have a really good thing going here and would love to see it go out to others sites and people. Are you on facebook? Are you on there? If not, can I list you through mine?
I am just learning all this trying to get ready for the time there is no food on the store's shelves. I have enough room to have a HUGE garden but nobody in the family is willing to do the work. I tried. Thank you for doing this.

    2. I do not have a newsletter but that might be something to think about. My Facebook page is unrelated to food storage since I just use it to keep up with family and friends. :)

  2. It is a good reminder for something that's easy to store and grow. Now that I'm thinking of it should get some going to add to salads : )

  4. You need to cook sprouts to reduce your chances of getting sick.
Even if you are very careful to use hygienic procedures. The seeds come already contaminated with e-coli and you won't know it until the family eats the raw sprounts and gets sick.

  5. A regret that we have heard from past customers is they wished they had thought more long range and purchased a building that could have housed their future needs as well.

  6. I think that it's really important to make sure you have vegetables in your food storage. My mom always pounded into us as kids that it's important to be prepared. Now that I have a house of my own, I am building up our food storage for a rainy day. I just need to keep buying different types of food instead of just dehydrated mashed potatoes. http://italissima.com/category/products/preserved-vegetable/
